Operation WTF is OVR

Internet

The flavour CSS style vanished. I re-uploaded it. How you can delete a file by posting is beyond me! So the blog looks like it should again!

Operation WTF is OVR.

Operation WTF

Internet

I don't know what I've done, but I just posted my last entry and some of the style information has vanished! All the background colours, link-styles are gone, but the sizes of all the elements and the locations of all the stuff are still intact.

Just typing this it's occured to me… in the Blix theme (and I'm assuming most others; I'm VERY new to WordPress!) the general page layout and the page colours etc are in two seperate CSS files, so perhaps the layout CSS is fine but the 'flavour' CSS file isn't.

The question is though; why would the flavour CSS file get corrupted simply by posting an entry? This is probably my lack of WordPress experience speaking… but I'm baffled.

Operation WTF has begun.

Enrolled For 2006 Courses

Thoughts

Just enrolled in my 2006 university courses, check out the titles for the computer science bit (get it? computer science… bit? bits and bytes? shaddup) of the degree this semester:

A real barrel of fun this looks like ;)!

University of South Australia I.T.

Dick Cheney Shirt

Internet

I really want one of these shirts!

I have NOT been shot by Dick Cheney

If anyone wants to send me one… :D

Meeting Established

Internet

Well the seller I sold (seller being sold something? Wonders never cease!) the iLife '05 set to is coming over in just under 45 mins to pick it up. We figure cash in hand and pickup saves the trouble of crappy postal services and the evil black hole that is commercial banking.

I like the way Bob put it:

Will pay cash when I pick it up – that way you get money straight away and we don’t have to wait while it goes through banking blackhole from my account to yours – learnt the other day this was not instantaneous as one would expect – took over 24 hours or more.

And I thought I was the only one who had bad expereinces with this! I'm not sure whether this is reassuring (ie: not just me) or disturbing!

Good Malaysian Webhosting

Internet

I guess two questions are coming up:

Q: Why are you looking at webhosts when you have one already?
A: Servage's upload and FTP speeds are HORRIBLE… which for podcasting and blogging is impossible!

Q: Okay, so why a Malaysian webhost?
A: The rest of my nuclear family lives in Malaysia and if I was still in high school I would be there too. Plus South East Asians KNOW computers! Oh yeah, and the Ringgit exchange rate is VERY appealing!

So far Exabytes looks the best. 5GiB disk space, 50GiB of bandwidth… RM149 a year!

The Ruben Junk Cleanout Has Started!
The aim? To get rid of… HALF of my junk. HALF! Why?

  • So I don't have to ask my parents for money, my mum's treatment is costing enough as it is without me
  • I have too much stuff
  • I should be able to move house all the time (being a uni student)

I figure it's the same as Israel Brown's Big Cleanout.

Hello world!

Internet

“Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!”

I certainly will. This is the first post for the final home of the Rubenerd blog… using WordPress! I've had other blogs before though, and what I'm going to do over the next few days before uni goes back and I'm swamped with work again is to import all the other entries from over the years into this.

The two original blogs were The Rubenerd Blog using a crude Perl script I wrote and was available in December 2004, and my other experiment using RapidWeaver at the end of last year.

Aside from the billions of configuration issues I had setting up the WordPress software on my blog, and my web host's FTP that makes a 2800 baud modem look like a Concorde, everything is working fine… touch wood!

As for what's happening on the podcasting front, The Rubenerd Show is still my primary project, this blog is just designed to supplement the show and to add notes which quite possibly could find their way onto the show, who knows!

If you came to this website through this blog, you can find The Rubenerd Show at the root url:
http://RubenerdShow.com/
. Note at the moment all you'll see is a notice page that the site is unavailable for upgrading, but hopefully for not much longer.

Cheers

Show

Podcast: Play in new window · Download

19:45 – Introduced by my sister: the third episode from Malaysia, for the first day of 2006! Talking about the shocking change of logo for Intel and the trashing of the Pentium brand; also Ben Stiller, Zoolander, Micronesia, marketing talk and crap, and topping off with how angry I am with Wikipedia for deleting the New Time Radio and Overnightscape articles and how it conveniently side steps free speech. Oh and spyware, RAM and another crack at Windows! Apologies for some audio problems, I'm away from home and the machine I'm using is pretty unreliable!
