About 2 years ago now I downloaded Picasa which, when I tested it and found it out to be a cheap knockoff of iPhoto, I deleted it. Since then I don't even have a Windows machine anymore.

Yet I still get weekly "newsletters" from them. Why whenever I download stuff like this and have to provide an address do they automatically assume I'd be interested in their junk every single week?

Anyway they had an unsubscribe link, and you know they usually say it'll take 24 to 48 hours before it comes into effect and you stop receiving messages? Well look at what Picasa says:

Please enter your email address below and click “Remove” to confirm your request to be removed from this mailing list. It will take up to 10 days for your request to take effect.

10 DAYS? What justification could they possibly give for that?!

My third auction selling… this time I parted with a copy of JavaScript for Dummies:

I bought this book while I was working for Peter at Veritas DGC in Singapore, but in the last few months all the effects on my website I've been able to accomplish using Perl/CGI and some basic CSS, which I think is more accessible than JavaScript. JavaScript has a place in more complex or important projects, but not in a funny webpage like mine ;).

So far I've been pleased with my eBay auctions, I've been cleaning out my stuff while at the same time making a few quid too, I think it's so far been a worthwhile exercise.

I'm uploading a new plugin for WordPress. Its 823.5kb in size. Let's track its progress:

As most people in Australia would probably know by now Yahoo! Australia and the 7 network merged their sites into one portal. At first I shrugged at the news, gave it the "who really cares" routine and left it.

I checked it out today though and was pleasently surprised. The layout and design of the front page is supurb, it's much easier to find information. Plus I know that Channel 9 and MSN are having a fling, and we all know MSN is evil, so I'm glad that 7 chose a much less evil partner! And we all know that Sunrise show on 7 is so much better than the Today show on 9 ;).

Hmm… I've only ever sold 2 pieces of software on eBay and already I'm a "serious seller for system software". Wait a tic, neither software items I sold were even system software!

Just came back from the airport, the Chris is back! He actually just came back from Kuala Lumpur, just like me.

Though the flight scheduling was fun. His flight was supposed to arrive back around 0730-ish, but MAS being MAS had the flight delayed and delayed again… suffice to say we left the airport at 5 minutes to midday. Midday… 0730… close enough.

It puts a little counter on your page that keeps track of how long since you brought back your intelligence (how long you've quit for), how many ciggies you've saved the people around you from inhaling (yes some us don't want your filth) and the amount of money you've saved in doing so which could go to other worthwhile causes, such as buying litres of coffee :D.

I would put my own quit counter on here, but I was never stupid enough to start in the first place.

Just saw another ad on television for another Kmart 20% off sale.

And my question is: does anyone out there really take notice of 10 or 20% off sales? Because when I see ad after ad for "whopping 10% off mens clothing at Kmart" I just groan. 10% off a $15.00 t-shirt (which would have been $2 after forex in Kuala Lumpur) is really no big deal.

Do Kmart have any statistics to prove that these "whopping" 10 to 20% off sales actually do anything for sales? Or is the whole thing just a cheap way of getting their brand out to the country? If it's the former, I guess it makes sense, but it sure doesn't affect my buying habits, and I'm pretty sure masses of people don't swarm in with their "incredible 10 to 20% off sales." If it's the latter… well I guess they've won over me if I'm posting this!

But come on, enough with these pointless sales nobody cares about. Honesty. Give me 80% off and I'll take notice.
