Please don’t ask me to elaborate on specifics just yet, I will once I’m safely enrolled somewhere else.
Dear University of South Australia,
Your communications maketh Ruben sadYou now hold the distinction of being the biggest mistake I’ve made in my life to date. You turned what were supposed to be some of the better years of my life into an unmitigated disaster, which after recent family events I thought would be nigh impossible to do, relatively speaking. I knew I should have gone to Uni Adelaide, or Perth, or the NUS.
Anyway I’m in the process of transferring away from you, and one day I’ll work up the guts to send you a letter like this instead of just posting it on my website.
Don’t lose any sleep over it.
Sincerely,
Ruben

Ohh :( I hope you get it sorted out. I wonder what drama they’ve caused you. :(
Flinders? :)
:( It’s terrible how little oversight is inherent in Australian Tertiary Education. Sure, there’s plenty of people to complain to but why not just make sure people are doing things the right way in the first place. When there’s a lack of common sense and basic human compassion, it removes all legimacy of whatever they think their purpose is (be it research or teaching). Again, specific examples when I graduate >_>
Thanks guys. Alex you hit the nail right on the head, the passion for research and education seems to be have lost, replaced with a money printing factory where we’re merely drones.
I thought uni would be all about discovering new and amazing ways to do things with like minded people — things like that would be hard to do if I just sat at home and read an O’Reilly programming book. I’ve been doing more of that lately though.
It’s been very disheartening and disillusioning. Is that a word?
