She adores her 64!

I'd react the same if I were given a mint Commodore 64 box! I got my 64 (and 16, and Plus 4) second hand on eBay when I was 18, and have loved them. Born too late for the home computer revolution, too early to have the internet in primary school. Never used datasettes, but had 5.25" floppies. Feeling sorry for me yet?

Happy Birthday Singapore #ndp2012

Singapore flag in Chinatown

Chinatown, in Singapore. Also got this photo of Orchard Road, but not as good.

Will be uploading the rest of the photos from our trip soon, promise!

Winter Solstice 2012

Winter Solstice

Taken at 09:07AM Australian Eastern Time. Is as cold outside as it looks!

That's a pretty complex avionics rack!

As Bruce Leibowitz says on his photo page on Airliners.net, a rare glimpse at part of an aeroplane we don't normally see!

The Boeing 767-200ER was first introduced in 1984, so we have some pretty retro computer hardware here. Funnily enough, I'd trust my life to such hardware before some of the newer stuff coming out now.

First unedited photo with my Tokina 100mm f/2.8 Macro!

Starburst by RubenSchade on 500px.com

The depth of field and manual focusing on my D60 will be challenging for a rank amateur such as myself, but the sharpness in the focused areas is nothing short of breathtaking. The dust on the leaves... I didn't even see that with my own eyes!

Coincidentally, this is the first photo I've uploaded to my 500px account. Not sure whether I'll give up Flickr just yet, but giving it a try :).

A plane old fish!

I really thought those retrojets were my favourite aircraft liveries, but this colour scheme on an Alaskan Airlines 737 takes the cake. The fish cake. A flying fish cake! Here fishy fishy fishy!

Taken by Frank Kovalchek in Anchroage, Alaska. Fishy.

Summer flower photos in Earlwood

Park in Earlwood

Flowers in the various parks around my neighbourhood in Sydney started to bloom, so I went out with my D60 and my favourite little AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8 yesterday for a quick break :)

You can view the full gallery on Flickr, if you so desire.

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Sydney Botanic Gardens

On my botanic garden photo post:

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney says: We love your photos of the Garden, Rubenerd. Thank you.

I think this is the first time I've had a representative from a place I've take pictures comment on them! Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling, and makes me want to visit more often. Great PR! :')

I spent much of my teenage years on my iBook G3 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, when it wasn't raining. I love urban gardens, and Sydney's is beautiful.

Sydney Botanic Garden #photos, part 2

Sydney Botanic Gardens

My Chinese New Year Twilight Parade photos are in the pipeline! In the meantime, here's part two of my Sydney Botanic Gardens stroll from Saturday!

If you haven't seen them yet, you can find part one here. As I said there, nothing terribly special here, but I really loved the colours! ^_^

Sydney Botanic Garden #photos, part 1

Sydney Botanic Gardens

While I wasn't on Twitter, I went with my old man around the Botanic Gardens with my D60 and my NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8. Nothing special, but I loved the colours ^^.
