It’s one of those age old questions (adjusted for inflation), what would you do if you suddenly had 100 million dollars?

Having just spent the last few days talking about my own social anxiety, awkwardness and questions about my point in life, the universe, everything and 42, I thought I’d stop being so inwardly focused and address someone else’s post discussing similar issues. We’re a confederacy of introverts here aren’t we? :).

Don’t remember when or where I saw the above picture, but what’s to stop somebody… printing that picture? Wouldn’t a more apt replacement for content they didn’t want printed be… a blank page?

@FakeAPStylebook: The word “totally” is redundant except when describing how rad something is.
Totally.

Despite working, studying and being geographically isolated from all my close friends and family (except for my sister!) I still look at all the work people like my dad do on one end of the scale, and people who literally have to spend an entire day walking to a well to get enough horrible muddy water just to bring back to their village to drink on the other side to think my problems are pretty trivial. Still, I reckon since 2007 my stress levels feel as though they’ve been doubling every few months which has resulted in a pretty steep curve!
The Guy Kawasaki over on AllTop linked to an article on DumbLittleMan.com written by a woman going by the name of Krizia entitled 10 Ways to Reduce Stress Without Spending a Dime.
I’m sorry, I know I keep talking about things that aren’t technology related but something has been bugging me. The stunning US Navy photo above of the USNS Mercy framed with a rainbow might give you an indication on what this post will be about, if you couldn’t discern from the title.

Earlier this year I decided I couldn’t keep up all my disparate blogs scattered over a wider area than all that foam that ended up on the walls when our washing machine had problems, so I merged them all into this one. This means for each practical software tip there are several needlessly pointless posts such as this one that perhaps would have just gone into a journal before, but it’s an infinitely easier setup. The word infinitely has lots of skinny letters in it.
I briefly had a talk with a few epicly awesome people yesterday from interstate about the idea of online personae, and how it seems to be the norm for many people to have their real selves and an internet pseudonym that "never shall meet".
I personally never saw the attraction of having multiple online identities because by having all my material in one place with my name people can see all that I’m interested in, plus I don’t have to remember which voice to use depending on what site I’m on and what account I’m logged into. I’m far too absent minded to pull that off.
I’ve heard the argument that people want to maintain a "professional" and "personal" online presence, but too often when I see this their professional sites are dry, dull and boring, while their personal sites are really interesting — even if they end up taking about the same thing. For me, I like people to see that I have a life outside studies and work, and conversely that I have interests in topics such as FreeBSD that I’m not studying at university at all!
I’m also a dreadful hypocrite, I maintain this site here at Rubenerd.com even though I’ve registered RubenSchade.com, RubenSchade.net and RubenSchade.org just in case I ever want to separate them. Oh yeah, and the name is shorter and catchier and all that.
Perhaps when I’m older and have a full time job outside studying I’ll want to keep my stuff separate, or perhaps I’ll even be required to. The way it stands now though, I’m perfectly happy with people knowing.
