Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 11

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn this final entry in our series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, Ben leaves us with his impression of what it's been like to weather critics and be featured on Rubenerd.com, in the song Searching For a Girl Like You:

Folks say I shouldn't care,
I got to be right there!

By "right there" I'm assuming Rubenerd.com, in which case... hell yeah! :D

That concludes this out-of-context lyrics post series of utter pointless fun. But don't fret, you can still read them all in their entirety in the archives where forever they'll belong, into eternity, or at least until I stop paying my webhosting bills. Goodnight everyone! Peace out!

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 10

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn this penultimate entry in our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben tells of his time at our house, in the song Walking With The Blues:

This place...
ain't no disgrace.

It's cold as ice... WATCH OUT!

Aside from that warning to his compatriots regaring our parsimonious usage of expensive central heating, we're flattered! We think. Hey, in 1990 we were still living in Melbourne and at this time of year it would have been pretty chilly! But I digress.

Tomorrow's lyrical anecdote will be the last, so enjoy these while you still can! ^^;

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 09

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben tries his hand at meteorology in the song So Long:

You watch the rain drops run to rivers,
You watch the rivers run to sea.
You know the sea turns into thunder,
Brings those raindrops back to me.

The irony is, it has been raining like crazy here the last few days. Maybe watching me sit in my chair isn't all he's up to.

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 08

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben finds himself in an existential quandry, full of loathing and self-doubt and wracked with the pain and isolation of his musical existance, in the song Goodbye Blackbird:

No one here...
Can ever understand me.
I'll be home, kinda late tonight...
Blackbird... bye bye...

Perhaps those aformentioned people cannot understand him due to the fact he's the kind of person who converses with an avian being regarding his evening plans. They're The Word you know.

Wow a Ben Sidran, Weird Al Yankovic and Trashmen reference in the one post. I'm on fire. No wait, that was the last post.

Ben Sidran’s Cool Paradise, track 07

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben discusses various forms of astronomical phenomena in Desire of Love:

Hot, like the yellow sun;
Uh oh.... FIIIIIIIIRE!

As far as I know Ben, the sun isn't on fire, its undergoing a sustained fusion reaction. Also while we're on the subject, discussing yellow hot fire doesn't sound particulary... cool... does it?

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 06

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben laments his experience with banks and other such financial institutions in the tune Language of The Blues:

You can almost hear them say...
"Ask... and we shall refuse"...
In the language of the blues

At least, that's what I think he's talking about. Makes sense.

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 05

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben presents a song with the shortest title yet both in number of words and in characters in the track Try:

You... sit in your chair.

Wait hold on a minute, he's watching me write these? In my chair?! How else would he know this is how I write blog posts? Call @Edible_Hat!

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 04

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben explores the deep recesses of our subconcious minds in the track She Steps Into A Dream:

Just "another" top 40 song...
MAAAAAAAGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!
She steps into a dreeeeeeeeeeam...

Magic... stepping into dreams... he must be referring to Ramona Flowers stepping into subspace. Wait no, supspace is for warp drive. Wait no, he's referring to Ariadne stepping into another level she designed... no wait, he's talking about Merry Nightmare not being able to return to her dream universe. No matter who or what, they don't like mainstream music, allegedly. Good taste ;)

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 03

Ben Sidram's Cool ParadiseIn our continuing series of fascinating lyrical anecdotes derived from Ben Sidran's 1990 album Cool Paradise, today Ben throws down some IT experience in the track If Someone Has to Wreck Your Life:

If someone has to wreck your life,
might as well be Me.

I think he's referring to Windows Me. I took more support calls from frantic people about that horrid OS and the then-new System Restore feature than probably anything else ever. Other than printers. People still call, message and email me about printers even NOW. I should get a job at EPSON.

Ben Sidran's Cool Paradise, track 02

Lip service... makes me nervous [...]
Makes me nervous... lip-lip service.

Thank you.
